Welcome to Street Level, Urban Gateways’ youth media arts center located in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood at 1637 N Ashland Ave!
Young people’s voices are often underrepresented in the media; we’re here to help them make awesome art, express their ideas, and tell their stories through multimedia art forms. Our programs promote self-expression, communication, and social change.
Program participants can make anything from a mixtape to a movie with instant access to high-end computers, studio equipment, and cameras. We offer a free weekly schedule of classes, clubs, workshops, and more with digital media artists James and Lisa as well as special guests. Youth can share their work online or even in our art gallery. Street Level also has activities like video game tournaments and anime movie screenings. Creative young people ages 13 to 24 are welcome to register for our programs; we also offer field trips for school groups.
